Obituary for Olga Maria Potts
Olga was born into the Christian family of Bernard and Maria Ziegler-Wolf one of eight siblings. She began her long life on July 2, 1919 at the family farm Mound Township in the Bethlehem Community, Effingham County, Illinois. She was baptized on July 6, 1919 and confirmed her faith on April 9, 1933 at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Bethlehem Lutheran School in April of 1935. She married Gilbert A. Potts on April 21, 1946 in Immanuel Lutheran Church. Gilbert preceded her in death on December 15, 1985. She maintained her membership in Immanuel from 1942 until her death. Besides raising a family with her late husband and working beside him in their family business for numerous years at the Western Auto Store in Altamont she found time for the Immanuel Ladies Aid, the Church Choir, Bible Study classes, the Altar Guild and the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. Olga and Gilbert eventually found time for travel and made trips to Europe and the Holy Land. Olga lived with her daughter Elaine since December of 2007 in Inverness, Illinois to be near her family. She loved to sew and she make walker, potato and gift bags. She faithfully mended many things for her children and even friends. She also enjoyed exploring new restaurants with her family and loved to top off every meal with a dessert! Olga is deeply loved by her family and friends. Memorials: Altamont Lutheran Interparish School, the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palatine, Illinois where she attended the past 7 years and or the Donor's Choice.
