Obituary for Ida Louise "Maggie" Holste
Maggie was born the daughter of Edward and Augusta Schnackel-Bartels. She began her long life on March 24, 1916 in Walshville, Illinois. Her baptism took place at the age of 5 years old in Litchfield, Illinois. After moving to rural Altamont in 1927 to live with her aunt and uncle, the Schnackel's she confirmed her faith at the St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church on April 13, 1930. Young Clarence Holste lived a short distance away from the Schnackel residence. He fell in love with his neighbor, Maggie Bartels and they married on May 5, 1935. Clarence preceded her in death on May 18, 1983. Maggie helped Clarence on the farm, raising hogs, chickens and cows and for many years they sold eggs from their farm and made egg deliveries to the Effingham and Teutopolis area every Saturday. Maggie was a member of the St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, the Blue Point Ladies Aid since 1936, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Women's Bowling League, Effingham County Home Extension, and the Effingham County Farm Bureau. Memorials they may be directed to the Cemetery Fund at St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, 14026 North 500th Street, Altamont, Illinois, 62411, Heart to Heart Activity Fund at the Lutheran Care Center, 702 West Cumberland Road, Altamont, Illinois 62411and or the Donor's Choice. She is survived by: Sue JacobsA Close Friendof Altamont, Illinois Beth Smith of Altamont as she considered her a granddaughter and her children Riley and Jenna Smith both at home. Several Nieces, Nephews and Friends She was preceded in death by Her: Parents: Husband: 3-Brothers: Theodore, Harry and Edward Bartels 1-Sister: Loutina Bartels Half Brother: Carl Hoffman Great Grandson: Logan Patrick Smith

Service:

Saturday November 22nd at 10 a.m.

St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church.



Visitation:

5:oo pm until 8:00 pm Friday November 21st. Also 9 a.m. to 10 a.m Saturday at Blue Point Church.
