Obituary for SHIRLEY BERG-ASHER
Shirley Kay Berg was born May 4, 1952 in St. Elmo, Illinois. She was the second child born into the Christian family of Raymond and Marion (Kirchoff) Berg. Shirley grew up with brothers Roger, Jerry and Larry and her sister Brenda where they all spent time in life working at the family business as Berg Texaco in Altamont. Shirley was baptized and confirmed her faith at the Immanuel Lutheran Church where she also received her elementary education. She graduated from Altamont Community High School with the class of 1970. She then received her Registered Nursing degree from the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1973. Shirley married Hans Peter Asher on August 1, 1976 in the Ascension Lutheran Church, St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1991. Shirley was most proud of her nursing profession where her last employment was with the St. Vincent's Division of the DePaul Hospital; St. Louis, MO. Shirley was a big proponent of the Lutheran Schools, education and the reading programs for children. She also spent many hours with the Boy Scout Troop #319 sponsored by the Webster Gardens Lutheran Church. Memorials they may be directed to the Boy Scout Troop 319 % L. Greve, at Webster Gardens Lutheran Church, 1018 Oakland, St. Louis, Missouri, 63122 or the ALIS (Altamont Lutheran Interparish School) reading programs for students, and or the Donor's choice.

Visitation:

6:00 pm-8:00pm on Friday, March 21, 2014 J. B. Smith Funeral Home, at 777 Oakwood Drive, Fenton, Missouri. There will be a visitation on Saturday March 22 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont beginning at 9:00 AM until funeral services at the church.
