Obituary for GLEN ALAN MATHIAS
Glen Alan Mathias was born July 2, 1958 at Shelbyville Memorial Hospital. He was the youngest son of A.B. and Peg Stevens-Mathias. Glen graduated from Beecher City high school and went on to attend Lakeland College. He began working with his father at the age of fifteen years old in his first profession as an electrician. Glen was a long-time owner of Mathias Electric and Plumbing. On August 2, 1980, Glen married Connie Jo Kopplin. Together, Glen and Connie were blessed with three children: Blake, Carmen and Morgan. When the children were growing up Glen spent a great deal of time coaching them and countless children in a variety of sports. Glen and his wife, Connie own The Home Center in Altamont. Most recently, Glen sought a new interest and was a partner in the Villas of Holly Brook Retirement Homes. Glen was an active member of the Altamont community, though preferred to step away from the lime light. He served numerous offices at the St. Paul Blue Point Lutheran Church. Glen has served on the Altamont Board of Education as well as the Altamont Education Foundation. He was a board member of the Ballard Nature Center and the Effingham County Fair. Glen is a member of the Altamont Chamber of Commerce and the Altamont Lions Club. Glen was active in and enjoyed hosting the annual fishing derby at Mathias Lake. He is survived by His: Mother: Peg Louise Mathias-Smith, of Beecher City, Illinois. Wife: Connie Jo Kopplin- Mathias, of Altamont, Illinois. Son: Blake Dustin (friend, Rachel) Mathias, of Knoxville, Tennessee. 2-Daughters: Carmen Elise (husband, Terry) Probst,of Swansea, Illinois. Morgan Brittany (finance, Ryan Engel) Mathiasof Altamont, Illinois. Brother: Gary (wife, Elaine) Mathias,of Mattoon, Illinois. 2 -Sisters:Dorinda (husband, Donald) Himes,of Beecher City, Illinois. Marlene (husband, Sid) Hutchison,of Beecher City, Illinois. He was preceded in death by His: Father:A.B. Mathias.

Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday morning August 15, 2012 at 11:00 AM .
St. Paul _�� Blue Point _�� Lutheran Church, Altamont with the Rev. David R. Speers officiating.
Visitation:
3:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 with a Lions Club Memorial Service at 8:00 pm. A visitation will again be held for one hour prior to the funeral services.
Visitation for family and friends will be conducted at the St. Paul _��Blue Point_ѝ Lutheran Church, 14026 North 500th Street, rural Altamont, Illinois.
