Obituary for Alma Louise Spilker
Alma Louise Spilker, 91 of rural Altamont, Near the Zion Community, passed Monday evening, November 28th. Alma Louise Wendling-Spilker was born Jan. 2, 1920, near Altamont in Moccasin Township, Effingham County, in the Blue Point Community, one of three children of John and Amanda Hubrich-Wendling. She graduated from Altamont Community High School with the class of 1939. She became Altamont School secretary under the guidance of principal Herman O. Homann. Alma was a life member of the Altamont community, where she was baptized into her faith, confirmed her faith and was married at St. Paul "Blue Point" Evangelical Lutheran Church. After meeting the love of her life, she married Robert August Spilker on Nov. 8, 1941. After her marriage, she joined Zion Lutheran Church and became a very active member in the activities of the church, including Lutheran Women's Missionary League, ladies aid society and other numerous church activities. She assisted her late husband in their grain and milk production farming efforts, besides raising a family. In her passing she leaves behind, two sons, Vernon (wife, Ruth) Spilker of Altamont and their children, Timothy (wife, Ann) Spilker, Elisabeth (husband, Nathan) Erb and Paul (wife, Jennifer) Spilker; the Rev. Gaylord (wife, Pam) Spilker of Edinburg and their children, Corey (wife, Cindy) Clendenen and Wendy (husband, Jack) Blurton; sister, Gladys (husband, Melvin) Graumenz of St. Peter; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert August Spilker; parents, John Wendling and Amanda Hubrich-Wendling; and sister, Elinor and her husband Raymond Alwardt. 11/28/2011

Service:

Friday December 2,2011. at 11:00 am.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Altamont, with the Rev. Michael Koepping officiating.



Visitation:

5 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 1, at Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
