Obituary for Nina Mae Rhodes
Nina Mae Rhodes, 83, of Shelbyville, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 6:38 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Shelby Memorial Hospital, Shelbyville. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo. Pee Wee Denton will conduct the services. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, rural Beecher City. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research; Spring Hill Cemetery, in care of Steve Wright, R.R. 2, Box 55, Beecher City, IL 62414; or the donor's choice. Online condolences may be made at kullfuneralhome.com. Nina Mae Langston was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Seminole, Okla., the fifth child of Charles and Martha Hand-Langston. Then her family moved to the St. Elmo, area where she graduated from St. Elmo High School with the class of 1946. After meeting the love of her life, she married Joseph Dene "Dusty" Rhodes on June 22, 1947, in Effingham. He preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1996. Nina and her husband moved numerous times with his employment, leading them to Effingham and then to Decatur, where she was a waitress with the Schwartz Restaurant before her retirement. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Decatur. In her passing, she leaves behind her son, David Leon (wife, Susan) Rhodes of Decatur; grandson, Joshua David Rhodes; great-granddaughters, Emily Rhodes and Rachel (husband, Darrin) Melton; great-great grandchildren, Jacob Melton, Colby Melton and Morgan Melton; and several nieces, nephews and friends in the St. Elmo area. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Franklin Langston and Martha Josephine Hand-Langston; husband, Joseph Dene "Dusty" Rhodes; son, Stanley Nelson Rhodes; grandson, Jarrod Dean Rhodes; and four brothers, Chester and his wife Margaret Langston, Everett and his wives, Eula and Hazel Langston, Nelson and his wife Pauline Langston.

Saturday November 12,2011 at 3:00 pm.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday November 12, 2011 at 3:00 PM at the Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo, Illinois by Pee Wee Denton.



Visitation:

Saturday November12,2011 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm

Visitation for family and friends will be Saturday November 12, 2011 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM before the time of the funeral service at the Kull Funeral Home.
