Obituary for Emma Lucille Fisher
Emma Lucille Stokes-Fisher, 104 years old, passed away peacefully on January 18th, 2018 at the home that she shared with her daughter in Altamont,IL. She was surrounded by her loving children.
Lucille was born in Bingham, IL on April 30th, 1913 to Matteson and Amy Stokes. She married Grover W. Fisher on April 30th, 1936 and they celebrated 52 years until his death in 1988.
Lucille graduated from St. Elmo High School in 1930. She held several positions of employment including Johnson-Shenkel Shoe Factory, Huddleston's Grocery, Abendroth's Cafe, and Crane Packing Co. She was also the Otego Township Tax Assessor for 11 years and Township Supervisor.
Lucille loved the Brownstown community and was actively involved as a Good Samaritan to a lot of people. She was a faithful member of the Golden Years Club and the Sefton Home Community Education. She was well known for her excellent pies and doughnuts. She loved to read, work crossword puzzles and play pinochle.
She is survived by her two children, Helen Klitzing of Altamont, IL and son Woodrow "Woody" Fisher of Amelia,Va, daughter-in-law, Marilyn Fisher, 6 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Thelma (late husband Charles) Stokes, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Grover; two brothers, Wayne Stokes and Charles "Cotton" Stokes; one sister Annabelle husband Boone Fulton; and son-in-law Myron "Spud" Klitzing
