Obituary for Viola M. Stuckemeyer
Viola M. Stuckemeyer, 76, of Altamont passed away at 6:05 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, Altamont, with the Rev. David R. Speers officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service Monday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. For those who prefer memorials, they may be directed to St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church Modernizing Fund, Lutheran Care Center, 702 West Cumberland Road, Altamont, IL 62411 or the donor's choice. Viola M. Stuckemeyer was born Nov. 8, 1935, at home on the Effingham-Clay County line near Louisville, a daughter into the family of Walter and Louis Dammerman-Mellendorf. Viola was the third child of four siblings born into this Christian family. Hard work and a strong faith were part of her family life. Viola received her education in the Louisville school system in Clay County. She married Leo E. Stuckemeyer on April 17, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Louisville. She was a devoted farm wife and mother most of her life. She worked at Kramer Propane Gas in Effingham for a short period of time. She served as historian reporter for Wright Unit HCE for many years, was active with St. Paul "Blue Point" Ladies Aid Society, assisted delivering Meals on Wheels and for numerous years assisted in her husband's petroleum sales. Surviving are her husband, Leo Edward Stuckemeyer of Altamont: son, Dean Ray (wife, Donna) Stuckemeyer of Altamont and their two daughters, Amy (husband, Brandon) West of Champaign and Miss Bethany Stuckemeyer of Altamont: daughter, Darlene Renee (husband, Randy) Radloff of Danville and their two daughters, Tennill (husband, Nickolas) Spence of Brownsburg, Ind., and their children, Madyson, Easton and Maya, all at home, and Nicole (husband, Ryan) Welty of Green Castle, Ind.: two brothers, Floyd (wife, Mary Lou) Mellendorf of Springfield and Dale (wife, Irma) Mellendorf of Louisville: sister, Phyllis Will of Altamont: several nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Mellendorf and Louise Dammerman-Mellendorf and one brother-in-law, Alvin Will.

Service 11 a.m. Monday February 16, 2012.
