Obituary for VIRGIL O. WINTER
Virgil Otto Winter was born December 1, 1940 at his parents' home rural Altamont. He was the second child born into the Christian family of George and Jennie (Siebert) Winter. Virgil grew up with brothers Stanley and Linder and his sisters Darlene and Sheila. Virgil was baptized and confirmed his faith at the Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was a life-long member. Virgil received his education from the Immanuel Lutheran School, and the Altamont Community High School with the class of 1959. Virgil married Marilyn Kay Teter on October 2, 1965. He was a Veteran of the United States Army receiving an Honorable Discharge on September 30th 1968. Virgil was most proud of his business that he shared with his brother in the partnership of S. & V. Stone Quarry in Mode, Illinois. Later in life he was employed by completing 15 years as a faithful employee of Save-A-Lot in Effingham, Illinois until his death. He was very content to be on the family farm, and especially in his timber and never ignored manual labor. Memorials they may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 203 East Division Street, Altamont, Illinois, 62411, the family and or the Donor's Choice. He is survived by his wife Marilyn Kay Winterof Altamont, Illinois. His two sons:Kevin (fiancÕ©e Terri) Winter. And Travis (wife, Vanessa) Winter both of Altamont, Illinois. 2-Daughters: Traci (husband, Wesley) Duckworth of St. Elmo, Illinois, and Krystal Overbeck of Altamont, Illinois. 1- Brother:Linder (wife, Karen) Winter of Woodland Park, Connecticut. 2-Sisters: Darlene (husband, Larry) Neumann and Sheila (husband, Julian) Brown of Katy, Texas. Sister-in-law: Mrs. Stanley (Sharon) Winter of Altamont, Illinois. 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter and Several Relatives and Friends. He was preceded in death by His: Parents, Father-in-law Philemon Schultz and Brother: Stanley George Winter.
