Obituary for THELMA LOUISE KROENING
Thelma Louise Kroening, 77, of Altamont, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at 7:19 p.m. at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont, with the Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday at Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont. A second visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 9 until 10 a.m. or the time of the funeral services at the church. Burial rites will be conducted at the church cemetery immediately following the funeral service. For those who prefer, memorials they may be directed to the donor's choice. Thelma Louise Kroening was born Dec. 22, 1935, in the St. Peter Community, Fayette County. She was born into the Christian family of Erwin and Martha (Bergman) Runge as an only daughter. Thelma was baptized on Jan. 6, 1936, confirmed her faith on April 2, 1950, and married Louis Johann Kroening on Oct. 16, 1955, performing all ceremonies in the St. Peter Lutheran Church. Together, Thelma and Louie were blessed with three children: Donna, Jerry and Sandra. Thelma's greatest joy in her life was her family. Spending time with her family and watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities brought her great happiness. She will be greatly missed by all. Thelma was a graduate of the Altamont Elementary School in 1950, and the Altamont High School with the class of 1954. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and a 50-plus year member of the West Center HCE Effingham County. She is survived by her husband, Louis Johann Kroening of Altamont; one son, Jerry (wife, Donna J.) Kroening of Altamont; two daughters, Miss Donna L. Kroening of Altamont and Sandra K. (husband, Jeff) May of Lake Jackson, Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, Lucas (wife, Jennifer) Kroening of Altamont, and their children Hayden Summers, Preston and Griffin Kroening, Dillon May of New Orleans, Zachary May of Lake Jackson, Texas, Amber (husband, Nathan) Schnarre of Altamont and their children Brayden, Adilyn and Liam Schnarre. She was preceded in death by her parents.
