Obituary for STANLEY WINTER
ALTAMONT -- Stanley G. Winter of Altamont died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, with his family near at his home in rural Altamont. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Pentecostal Church, 1009 W. Gallatin, Vandalia, with Brother Daniel L. McDonald officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be conducted from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont. A second visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Military burial rites will be conducted at the Arborcrest cemetery immediately following the funeral service. For those who prefer memorials, they may be directed toward the donor's choice. Stanley George Winter was born April 1, 1938, in rural Mound Township, Effingham County, near Altamont, almost on the identical property where he died. He was the first son of five siblings born to George and Jennie Siebert-Winter. Stanley was life member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed his faith. He was educated at the Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Altamont High School with the class of 1956. He attended one year of college and then enlisted in the U. S. Army. Stanley married Sharon Diane Teter on April 1, 1962, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Together, Stanley and Sharon were blessed with two children: Shawn and Shelli. When the children were growing up Stanley spent a great deal of time working in the rock quarry business and owning a partnership in S & V Stone Quarry in Mode, before retiring in 1991. He proudly served his county for 6 years as a reserve veteran of the United States Army during the Viet Nam conflict. Stanley was an active member of the Altamont community. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Diane Winter of Altamont; one son, Shawn (wife, Melissa) Winter of Altamont and his grandson, Austin Michael Winter; one daughter, Shelli (husband, Travis) Stein of Altamont and his grandson Dalton Shane Stein; two brothers, Virgil (wife, Kay) Winter of Altamont and Linder (wife, Karen) Winter of Woodland Park, Colo.; two sisters, Darlene (husband, Larry) Neumann of Beach Park and Sheila (husband, Julian) Brown of Katy, Texas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Tuesday morning January 22, 2013 at 11:00 am.

First Pentecostal Church,1009 W.Gallatin, Vandalia.IL.

4:00pm-8:00pm on Monday, January 21, 2013 .
