Obituary for Roscoe Elmer Moody
Roscoe was born into the Christian family of Marion and Lula (Gray) Moody he was one of four siblings. He began his long life on January 11, 1927 in Cross Plains, Indiana. He enlisted in the Army of the United States on December 20, 1945 where he served his country well during World War II and received decoration of the Victory Medal-Army of Occupation Medal Germany. Roscoe reached the rank of S SGT. Roscoe received an Honorable Discharge on December 29, 1946 .
Roscoe was a loving father and grandfather that sacrificed his own interest to benefit those whom he loved. Besides raising a loving family with his late wife, Ruth “Betty” (Rickroad) Moody, Roscoe was an over the road truck driver employed by the Baylor Trucking Company of Milan, Indiana for a number of years. Later Roscoe moved to Effingham, Illinois and became the general manager of the Bobber Auto/Truck Plaza in Effingham and held that position for a number of years. After his retirement Roscoe was employed part time by Dust & Sons in Effingham.
Roscoe was a Life Member of the American Legion Post #173, as well as a 53 year member of
Masonic Lodge #7 both of Versailles, Indiana.
Memorials may be directed to the Benham Cemetery in rural Ripley County, Indiana and or the Donor’s Choice.
He is survived by his:
Daughter: Marilyn Irene Cornett-Hale Berea, Kentucky
Brother: Ray Moody Milan, Indiana
4-Grandchildren: Ross (wife, Carla Stuckemeyer) Cornett Altamont, Illinois
And their 4-sons: Lantz R.; Trevor J.; Evan L. and Logan E. Cornett
