Obituary for Melvin Charles Suckow
Melvin was born on April 21, 1941 in rural Mound Township, Effingham County one of five siblings into the Christian family of George and Emma Leppin-Suckow. He was a life member of the Zion Lutheran Church and was baptized on May 4, 1941 and confirmed his faith on April 13, 1955.
Melvin married Linda Marilyn Storck at the St. Peter Lutheran Church on June 25, 1960. The Lord blessed their marriage of 57 ½ years with five children, Tim, Jeff, Jason, Scott and Melissa. The family attended Zion Lutheran Church south of Altamont, where Melvin held numerous offices within the church, as well as serving on Lutheran Care Center Board, and a school board member of the Bethlehem Lutheran School.
Melvin was a hard worker both at home farming and at places of employment as Norge/Fedders USA, Landmark Structures, and finally driving for Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham.
Melvin leaves to mourn in his passing his passing: Wife Linda M. Suckow; 4-Sons: Tim (wife Kathryn) Suckow of Montrose, Jeff (wife Shay) Suckow and Jason (fiancé’ Philicia) Suckow both of Altamont and Scott (fiancé’ Jessica) Suckow of Pana, Illinois, one daughter Melissa (husband Andy) Voelker of Altamont, Brother David (wife, Beverly) Suckow and sister Lillian (husband Melvin) Sporleder both of Altamont; and 9 Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, 2-Brothers Edgar and Richie Suckow.
Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church, the ALS Association of St. Louis and or the choice of the donor.
