Obituary for Melissa Mae Kruse
Melissa Mae Kruse 90 years old of Altamont, Illinois died at 9:30 pm early Sunday evening, October 4, 2020 at the HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois as her health failed.
There will be a walk-through visitation for family and friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Thursday morning October 8, 2020. Funeral Services will follow Thursday morning both at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, Illinois led by Dr. Rev. James F. Wright.
Melissa was born on April 19,1930 at home at the family farm in the Blue Point Community near Altamont into the Christian family of John and Lydia Johannes-Kruse. Her mother died at a young age, and later her father married Alma Mary Winter. Melissa was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, and a long-time volunteer at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at the Altamont Garment Company and the Illinois Glove Factory in Effingham. Melissa loved gardening and traveling to see many new places over the years.She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, and cousins Carolyn Moore, Ilene Scott,and Ron Kruse.
