Obituary for Lois Irene Shipp

Mrs. Lois Irene Shipp, 89, of St. Elmo, IL formerly of Ulman, MO and Cowden, IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, November 27th at 1:37 PM at Aperion Care in St. Elmo, IL. 


Lois Irene was born June 6th, 1933, in Cowden, IL, the youngest of 7 children to Arthur and Annis Tucker. She married John Hayward in 1950 and they later divorced. She then married William (Bill) Denton in 1975. After his death in 1997, she married Don Shipp in 2008.

She was a lifelong cook owning two restaurants in Cowden: The Fireside restaurant and Granny’s Cafe. She was a member of Ulman Christian Church in Ulman, MO.



Lois is survived by her daughter Kathy (Tom) Mills of St. Elmo, IL. Her grandchildren: Darin Mills of St. Elmo, IL, Deanna (Henry) Heiser of Wedowee, AL, Amy (Keith) Garrison of Brownstown, IL, and Chuck Dilley of Mt. Zion, IL. Her great-grandchildren: Akina (Gavin) McCain, Wade (Lacie) Heiser, Alexis Heiser, Khail Heiser, Trey (Mason) Culver, Laura (Austin) Holcomb, Jacob Bright, Aubrie Dilley, and Carter Dilley. Her great-great-grandchildren: Ramsey Heiser and Helana Heiser. Her stepdaughters: Donna Foster and Sandra Denton. Her stepsonRandy (Sherie) Shipp and her step grandchildren: Drew (Angela) Thomas, Chance Foster, Aubrey Shipp, and Amber Denton. Her step great-grandchildren Max, William, and Elle.


Preceding her in death was her husband Don in 2020, daughter Carol Dilley, her brothers Hadley (Eleanor)Tucker, Herb (Donna) Tucker, Corwin (Mary) Tucker, Louis (Juanita) Tucker and sisters Fern (Franklin) Stoneburner, Leah (Frank) Barnes and her stepson-in law Charlie Foster.
