Obituary for LaVONNE K. HAKER
LaVonne Kathryn Haker, 86, of Altamont died at 5:55 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont, with the Rev. James F. Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, and for one hour prior to the funeral. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Carlyon or to the donor's choice. LaVonne was born March 3, 1926, at home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, into the family of Earl and Gladys Julius-Smith. LaVonne was the third child of five siblings born into the family. Hard work and strong ideals were part of her family life. LaVonne received her elementary, high school and partial college education in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She married Harold "Buster" Reed and he preceded her in death in 1960. She later married Ray Eugene "Gene" Haker on Feb. 17, 1974, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 2002. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Effingham County Farm Bureau and was self-employed in agriculture. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald Reed of Portage, Ind., and Bill (wife, Diane) Reed of Chesterton, Ind.; daughter, Sandra (husband, Morris) Russell of La Vergne, Tenn.; special friend, Susan Hammond of Altamont; daughter-in-law, Jody Reed of Greenup; two brothers, Don (wife, Sharon) Reed of Minnesota and John Reed of Iowa; two sisters, Louise Clearwater and Dorothy Pigman, both of Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Gladys Julius-Smith; mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Esther Berg-Haker; first husband, Harold "Buster" Reed; second husband, Raymond Eugene "Gene" Haker; son, Larry Reed; daughter-in-law, Deborah Reed; and brother-in-law, Bruce Clearwater.

Wednesday morning May 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont with the Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating.



Visitation:

Tuesday May 1, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM

Kull Funeral Chapel, Altamont, Illinois, and for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
