Obituary for JAMES R. WALL
James R. (Jim) Wall Jr., 79, of Effingham, formerly of Salem, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, with the Rev. Theodore C. Gall and the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Memorials they may be directed to the "ALIS" Altamont Lutheran Interparish School, the St. John's Lutheran Church Food Pantry, or Braille Center, the Salem Lutheran Church and or the donor's choice. Jim was born March 27, 1934, in East St. Louis. He was born into the Christian family of James R. Sr. and Alberta (Boyce) Wall as one of two siblings. Jim married Eileen Ruth Stuckemeyer on May 15, 1960, in the St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, rural Altamont, by the Rev. H. T. Schmidt. Together, Jim and Eileen were blessed with three children: David, Linda and Ellen. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, reading, playing cards and golf. Jim was a graduate of Collinsville High School and the Indiana Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He began his career with the Illinois Department of Transportation in Effingham and retired from Egyptian Concrete in Salem, in 2005. Jim served his country for eight years in a standby unit of the U.S. Army reserve. He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Effingham, as well as a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Ruth Wall of Effingham; one son, David James (wife, Kathy) Wall and their children, Holly and Alex, of Effingham; two daughters, Linda Sue (husband, Joe) Cicardo and their daughters, Jenna and Christa, of McKinney, Texas, and Ellen Diane (husband, David) Gurnee, and their children, Emily, Melanie and Curtis of Granger, Ind.; one sister, Anne C. Miller of Kankakee; five brothers-in law, Ralph (wife, Carroll) Stuckemeyer, Leo Stuckemeyer, Garold (wife, Marlene) Stuckemeyer, Raymond (wife, Elaine) Stuckemeyer, and Marlin Will, all of Altamont; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James R. Sr. and Alberta (Boyce) Wall; father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Ida (Hammer) Stuckemeyer; brother- and sister-in-law, Harry and Lorna (Stuckemeyer) Koss; sisters-in-law, Frieda Will and Viola Stuckemeyer.
