Obituary for Helen Voelker
Helen L. Voelker, 81, of Altamont, IL passed away at 6:15 a.m. Monday, June 12th 2017, at her home, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altamont, IL. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Altamont, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the church. Kull Funeral Home in Altamont is in charge of arrangements.

Helen was born at home in rural Kinmundy on September 4, 1935, one of six children to Charles and Nell (Diss) Blomberg. She married Howard W. Voelker on March 11, 1955, in San Diego, California.
Helen graduated from LaGrove High School, Farina, IL. She was a retired rural mail carrier and had 27 years of service at the St. Elmo Post Office. Helen spent her entire marriage on the farm she loved and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard; son, Andrew (wife, Melissa) Voelker; daughter Connie (husband, Mark) Mankin, all of Altamont; daughter-in-law, Sherri Voelker of Bloomington, IL; seven grandchildren, Bridget (Brad) Jones of Mt. Zion; Eric (Kim) Voelker of Altamont; Sara (Charles) Hutchison of Pekin; Adam (fiancée, Brittany Osteen) Mankin, Benjamin (Stephanie) Voelker, Brandon Voelker, and Brady (special friend, Sami Francis) Voelker all of Altamont, and three great-grandchildren; Brittany Voelker, Sean Hutchison, and Scarlet Hutchison; brothers, Charles (Zola) Blomberg of Farina, Howard (Pat) Blomberg of Kinmundy, Donald (Coleen) Blomberg of Kinmundy; and sisters, Jean (Robert, deceased) Young of Kinmundy, and Junne Curtis of Kinmundy.
Helen was preceded in death by her mother and father; son, Joseph Voelker; grandson in infancy, Jason Mankin; and one infant sister.
