Obituary for Gertrude Schultz
Gertrude was born into the Christian family of Otto and Emelia Yagow-Duckwitz. She began her long life on November 18, 1918 at the family farm West Township, Effingham County, Illinois. She was baptized at home, attended the Lutheran school and confirmed her faith at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church where she maintained her life membership. Gertrude was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Brail Workers and the Choir of the Church. Gertrude certainly enjoyed bowling and was the secretary for the Altamont Schuetzenfest for a number of years beginning in the 1970's. Besides raising a family with her late husband and working on the family farm she was also employed at the Altamont Garment Factory and the Carriage Inn for a number of years. Memorials they may be directed to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and or the Donor's Choice.
