Obituary for Gertrude Schultz
Gertrude was born into the Christian family of Otto and Emelia Yagow-Duckwitz. She began her long life on November 18, 1918 at the family farm West Township, Effingham County, Illinois. She was baptized at home, attended the Lutheran school and confirmed her faith at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church where she maintained her life membership. Gertrude was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Brail Workers and the Choir of the Church. Gertrude certainly enjoyed bowling and was the secretary for the Altamont Schuetzenfest for a number of years beginning in the 1970's. Besides raising a family with her late husband and working on the family farm she was also employed at the Altamont Garment Factory and the Carriage Inn for a number of years. Memorials they may be directed to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and or the Donor's Choice. She is survived by her: Son:Marion (wife, Mary) SchmidtAltamont, Illinois and their children:Debbie (husband, Delbert) Rippetoe Duane (wife, Sharon) Schmidt Diane (husband, Jerry) Buening Darren (wife, Felicia) Schmidt Denise (special friend Chad Hildebrand) Schmidt 2-Daughters:Laverne BrookshierAltamont, Illinois and her children:Jeff (wife, Christie) Kesterson Jon (special friend Mary Ann) Kesterson Jean (husband, Mark) Durbin Michael (wife, Beth) Brookshier Janet HamiltonAltamont, Illinois 22- Great Grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by Her: Parents: Husband:Louis Otto Schmidt Husband:Arnold Gustav Schultz 1-Son:Norbert and his wife Lynn Schmidt 2- Son-in-laws:Dean Hamilton Darrell Brookshier 3-Brothers: Herbert and his wife Hilda Duckwitz Louis and his wife Mildred Duckwitz Raymond and his wife Florence Duckwitz
