Obituary for Gerald Lloyd Crouse
Gerald L. Crouse was born on the family farm rural Clay County, Oskaloosa Township near Louisville, Illinois on September 18, 1941 into the Christian family, one of 10 siblings, of Luke and Anna Mae Colclasure-Crouse. He grew up in the Louisville area and completed his high school education at the Clay City High School in 1959. Gerald then attended Southern Illinois University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in June of 1964. He then taught in both Clay City and Bluford high schools for 2 years. On February 2, 1967 Gerald was inducted in the United States Army where he was awarded the rank of E-4 in O5-C-20 or radio teletype operator. He also received two overseas bars. He received his Honorable Discharge on February 1, 1973. He also taught in Effingham with the CEFS in adult education. With his love for horses he did rodeo for ten years. Along with his brother he continued to farm in Ingraham until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW Posts #176 of Centralia, #_______of Clay City.
