Obituary for GARY RAY WRIGHT
Gary Wright, 74, of St. Elmo, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 2:35 a.m. at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont, by the Dr. Rev. James F. Wright. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kull Funeral Home, St. Elmo. There will be a second visitation from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery, rural Loudon Township, Fayette County, Beecher City. For those who prefer memorials, they may be given to the Springhill Cemetery in care of Steve Wright, at R.R. 2 Box 55, Beecher City, Illinois 62414 and or the donor's choice. Gary Ray Wright was born on Dec. 10, 1938, in rural Loudon Township, Fayette County, a fifth child into the family of George and Blanche (Durbin) Wright. Gary grew up in rural St. Elmo with his brothers Dwight, James and Oliver; and sister, Shirley. He married Ella Mae McVicker, the love of his life on March 25, 1959, in the church parsonage, Vandalia. She preceded him in death on March 25, 2008. Together, Gary and Ella Mae were blessed with six children, Larry, Craig, Danny, Patricia, Janice and Sandra. Gary was a quality inspector for Norge and then Fedders USA in Effingham until his retirement in 2003. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and shared with his wife the responsibilities of raising a family. He was a baptized and confirmed member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Gary also enjoyed being an outdoorsmen as raising a large garden, deer hunting and other activities. In his passing, he leaves behind two sons: Larry Ray Wright, and Craig Lee (wife, Dianna) Wright and his two grandsons, Thomas and Danny Wright, all of St. Elmo; three daughters: Patricia Kay Wright and his two grandsons, Robbie (wife, Ashley) Kinney and Alec Brady, and his granddaughter, Ashanta (husband, Josh) Ledbetter; Janice Kathrine (husband, J.D.) Russell and his three granddaughters, Kaitlyn, Courtney and Kyra; and Sandra Jean (husband, Tracy) May and his two grandsons, Cody and Payton May, all of St. Elmo; three brothers, Joseph Dwight (wife, Glynis) Wright, James Laverne (wife, Leona) Wright and Oliver Keith (wife, Edna) Wright, all of St. Elmo; one sister, Mrs. Earl (Shirley) Smith of Altamont; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Blanche (Durbin) Wright; son, Danny Lynn and wife, Lynn Ann (Harre), Wright; and brother-in-law, Earl Smith.
