Obituary for Eugene Lester Dye
Gene was born on August 11, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas one of four siblings into the Christian family of Eugene Lester Dye Sr. and Thelma Hernandez-Dye. At 37 years old he moved with his family to Altamont in 1990. Gene and his family were long time members of the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Gene graduated from St. Elmo High School with the class of 1976.
Gene was employed as an over the road truck driver for the Cheyenne Express, Stringer Trucking and Sam Durbin Trucking. Gene also worked for Lamina and Curt Buzzard in their farming operations. He was presently the President of the National Trail Hamm Amateur Radio Club of Edgewood, Illinois. Until his health failed he was a member of the Search and Rescue Club and Weather Spotter Club of Effingham.

His wife Marie I. (Underwood) Dye of Altamont; 2-Sons Eugene (wife, Sadie) Dye II of Scipio, Indiana, and Randal (friend, Angel) Dye of Effingham; Daughter Darla (fiancé Ray) Dye of Elizabethtown, NC.; 1-Brother: Richard Harold (wife, Susan) Rush of Brownstown; Sister Linda (friend, Mike Whitehead) Dye of Vandalia; Daughter-in-law Jessica Dye of Beecher City; Sister-in-law Janet Dye of Effingham and 6 Grandchildren, 1-Great Granddaughter, 3 God Children, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father- Eugene Lester Dye Sr.; Son- Jason Eric Dye; Brother Richard Lee Dye and Sister-Carolina Sue Dye.
