Obituary for Carol Marlene Miller
Carol Marlene Miller 85 years old, of Altamont passed away peacefully early Wednesday evening September 22, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.
Carol was born into the Christian family one of three children of Kenneth and Mildred Shumaker Leith. She was born on July 19, 1936 in Mason, Illinois. Carol graduated from Effingham High School and furthered her education at Lakeland Junior College. Over the years Carol was employed by the Centralia Correctional Center, was most proud of being a telephone operator with the Effingham Exchange, Goers Motor Sales in Altamont, JTPA or Job Training Partnership Act, CEFS, and the Heartland Human Services in Effingham.
Carol spent her life in the local area as a home maker and raised a family of four children. She was presently a member of the New Hope Church in Effingham, Illinois, and previously other area churches. She loved all her children and grandchildren beyond measure. She especially enjoyed watching her children in athletic events and personal endeavors. She was always ready to support her family and her community. Carol also enjoyed volunteering at the Lutheran Care Center and the Cross in Effingham.
