Obituary for CLARENCE E. EWALD
Clarence E. Ewald 92 Years Old of Altamont, Illinois Died Monday Afternoon: February 3, 2014 at the Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, Illinois. Clarence Edwin Carl Ewald was born May 18, 1921 one mile south of Moccasin, IL in Moccasin Township, Effingham County, IL. He was one of four siblings born into the Christian family of William and Carrie Mell-Ewald. Clarence grew up with Brother Rudy and Sisters Luella and Viola. He lived in the same home he was born in until June 2013. Clarence was baptized and confirmed his faith at the St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church where he was a life-long member. Clarence received his education from the Moccasin Grade School, the "Blue Point" Lutheran School, and the Altamont Community High School. He was the Effingham County Grade School Spelling Champion in 1936 and a member of "Who's Who in Illinois High Schools" in 1940. Mr. Ewald was a former church treasurer, a former township trustee, and a former township ASC Committee member. He was a member of the Effingham County Farm Bureau, and a retired farmer. Clarence was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, although he did watch the St. Louis Cardinals games when the Cubs were not playing. He also enjoyed watching the Illini basketball games, and was an avid listener of the early morning show on the local radio station, as well as listening to the local area schools' basketball games that were broadcast on that station. Memorials they may be directed to the St. Paul "Blue Point" Lutheran Church, 14026 North 500th Street, Altamont, Illinois, 62411, the Lutheran Care Center, 702 West Cumberland Road, Altamont, Illinois 62411 and or the Donor's Choice. The family wishes to thank Pastor David Speers, Dr. John Opilka and staff, Dr. Cheema and staff, St. Anthony's Hospital Staff, the Lutheran Care Center staff and Luther Terrace staff for Uncle Clarence's spiritual well being and health care during his illness. Mr. Ewald, who was never married is survived by 5-Nephews:Darrell (wife, Sue) Ewald Dennis (wife, Paula) Ewald Gary (wife, Dense) Luker Curtis (wife, Christy) Stortzum Dale Luker 3-Nieces:Jan (husband, Chip) Atchison Debbie (husband, Doug) Israelson Cathy (husband, Paul) Von De Bur He was preceded in death by His: Parents 1-Brother:Rudy and his wife Mamie Ewald 2-Sisters:Luella and her husband Carl Luker Viola and her husband Myron Stortzum

Friday morning February 7, 2014 at 11 00

St. Paul _��Blue Point Lutheran Church, rural Altamont.



Visitation:

Lutheran Care Center Chapel, Altamont and for one hour prior to the services at the church.
