Obituary for Armond Almore Goers
Armond Almore Goers was born into the Christian family one of two siblings of Louis and Edna Schwerdtfeger-Goers. He began his long life on October 29, 1922 on the family farm, Mound Township near Altamont, Illinois. He was baptized on Novemeber 5th and attended the Lutheran school and confirmed his faith on April 14, 1935. He also married Clara Lorene Evans on January 18, 1948 all in the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altamont by the R. H. F. Guse. Armond was a trustee for a number of years and taught Sunday school for over 20 years. While attending and becoming a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church he was very active in Church affairs and a devote member of the Wednesday morning Bible study group. Armond was well known for his woodworking ability as building numerous crosses for the Church, family and friends from his favorite walnut wood. He also dedicated his time, knowledge and materials for numerous construction projects where he learned from Arnold Schmidt for whom he was employed for over 25 years. Later Arnold worked for and retired from the State of Illinois where he was in charge of the grounds and upkeep of the I-70 rest areas. He mostly enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Arnold built numerous Grandfather and Grandmother clocks all with German movements which reached throughout the nation from Washington DC to the west coast. In his younger years he was drafted in the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in 1947. He was a proud member of the Grobengieser-Fischer American Legion Post #512 in Altamont, Illinois. Memorials they may be directed to the Immanuel Lutheran Church and or the Lutheran Care Center. He is survived by his: Daughter:Claudia Sue (husband, Roger) BergAltamont, Illinois and their 3-children:Randall Paul (wife, Jenee) Berg and their 2- sons: Riley Paul and Lucas Dylan Berg Catherine Sue (husband, Eric) Dothager and their 2- daughters: Makenna Sue and Aubrey Ann Dothager Mark Louis (wife, Jennifer) Berg and their daughter: Clair Elizabeth Berg Sister:Marian MartinAltamont, Illinois Sister-in-law:Betty (husband, George) LeboDecatur, Illinois He was preceded in death by His: Parents, Wife and Brother-in-law Donald Martin

Saturday March 7th at 11:00 am

Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont IL



Visitation:

Friday March 6th from 4pm to 7pm . Also 10am at Immanuel Luther Church prior to service.
